New client for Sasse Group: Hygiene concepts and high-tech convince Sofia International Airport

Munich – Sofia International Airport (IATA code: SOF) is a new customer of Sasse Group. As of 1 March 2022, Sasse Aviation Services GmbH will take over the management of the hygiene facilities in both terminals of the airport in the Bulgarian capital. “We are very pleased about the trust placed in us by the management of Sofia International Airport,” explains Thomas Jessberger, Managing Director of Sasse Aviation. “Our concept of modern, crisis-resistant hygiene concepts and of high-tech solutions to optimise our services has convinced.”
“The technology offered by Sasse Aviation Services GmbH will not only improve cleanliness, but also enable us to save resources and monitor processes digitally. Both passengers and the airport will benefit from this,” says Henning Pfisterer, COO of the operating company SOF Connect, on the occasion of the announcement of the order.

A dozen European airports

For Sasse Group, Sofia “completes the dozen of European airports”, says Jessberger. In addition to Munich, the FM service provider’s clients also include Hamburg, London Luton, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Bristol and Edinburgh. “The high standards that airports set, especially when it comes to hygiene – not just since Corona – have always been both a challenge and an innovation driver for us,” emphasises the Managing Director. “For example, we use modern sensor technology to measure the frequency of the facilities with current usage data and immediately refill commodities such as soap or towels when needed. The combination of innovation and intelligent processes are the prerequisite for hygiene services at the highest level.” The use of digital tools is seen there, as in all areas of Sasse Group, as an efficiency booster and service accelerator.

This also benefits the employees in the service units, who receive reliable information on their respective areas and document it digitally. “With special training courses, we give all employees comprehensive tools to organise their work optimally,” says Jessberger. “Of course, this also applies to those previously employed at Sofia Airport in the hygiene area, all of whom we will take over.”
The airport, which is mainly served by Air Bulgaria, Wizz Air and Ryanair, handles around 6.5 million passengers a year (pre-Corona figures). It is operated by a consortium that includes Flughafen München GmbH, another client of Sasse Group.
