Health programme builds confidence in safe air travel

Munich Airport’s successful implementation of efficient health and safety measures has now been confirmed at international level. The airport association ACI World has awarded MUC the “ACI Airport Health Certificate”. It confirms that the airport operator acts in accordance with the recommendations of the ICAO Council’s Aviation Recovery Task Force and the joint EASA/ECDC Aviation Safety Protocol. ACI EUROPE’s guidelines for safe and healthy air travel are also consistently implemented in Munich.

The ACI Airport Health Accreditation Programme creates the most important prerequisite for the acceptance of air travel during the pandemic: it makes the health and safety measures at airports measurable and transparent for the people affected – passengers, employees and authorities. Because they receive certainty about the quality of health and safety precautions, travellers and aviation employees alike have the necessary confidence. This is a central idea why FM is now understood as a people business.

Classic FM services included into certification

However, airports can also have their precautions and processes audited and independently certified on the basis of the programme. Travellers thus receive at the respective airports. For an FM service provider like Sasse Group, whose clients include Munich Airport, such specifications simultaneously serve as a benchmark for their own performance – and as an impulse for their own concepts, which are implemented with the respective clients.

What was checked within the scope of the certification is classic FM business. Numerous services that we provide for the airport were included in the certification. For example, the disinfection and cleaning measures, the precautions to comply with the distance regulations, the ventilation in the passenger areas or the routing and information for passengers were checked. This reflects the holistic understanding of a task, which is a matter of course for “FM by Sasse” and which we also live together with our customers at other airports.

“The ACI Airport Health Accreditation Programme promotes best practice in health protection and supports the efforts of the entire industry to standardise measures, processes and procedures,” explains Luis Felipe de Oliveira, Director General ACI World. “Recovering the industry from the impact of the COVID-19 crisis requires a coordinated, global effort.” An effort to which we, as an innovative FM service provider, will contribute in the long run.
