Passenger well-being:

5-star quality for lounges in MUC

For German company Lufthansa, Munich Airport is the key to international markets. Travellers from all over the world come here to visit Bavaria or to catch connecting flights to other destinations. For premium passengers of the “5-star airline” and the “5-star airport”, this depends on them feeling well looked after during their time at the airport where the most important service product are the lounges.

In both the Classic Lounges (Business and Senator) and the First Class Lounges, in Terminal 2 and in MUC’s satellite terminal respectively, the German airline has depended on the services of Sasse Aviation for quite some time. Now, on 1 April 2021, this contract has been extended for three years – with further extension options.

The task comprises routine cleaning at night, glass cleaning and, in the Classic Lounges, caretaking of the showers and sanitary areas during the lounge opening times; alongside cleaning, this also includes allocating the showers to the passengers. “Having a shower directly before or after a long-haul flight is a cherished bonus for travellers that Lufthansa offers,” explains Katharina Panagos, Key Account Manager at Sasse and responsible for the relationship with Lufthansa. “Some have busy working days behind them and want to start the flight feeling relaxed, some want to freshen up after a long night on board before starting their day in Munich. So we are there to make sure their 5-star experience in the lounge is perfect.”
