The birth of the family business
Dr Eberhard Sasse starts a cleaning company. His familiarity with “buildings” provides a solid basis; his father, an architect, had laid the foundations here. With a small start-up budget and a team consisting of a Greek couple and himself as an assistant, he begins his work on his first contract with a Munich bank.
Venturing into Austria
The interest in expansion led to the establishment of the first foreign branch in Austria. It quickly becomes clear that while Eberhard can improvise flexibly in Munich, longer planning times and distances are required in Austria. This challenge led to the next stage in the company’s development: the need to define and monitor processes and workflows. The smooth integration of contracts and new employees is crucial for success.
The year of the championships
The logical consequence of lifelong learning: a purely academic education is not enough for Dr Eberhard Sasse. He opts for a second educational path and completes an apprenticeship as a cleaner. After graduating as a journeyman, he received his master craftsman’s certificate in 1985. This proved to be the right time, as in the same year FC Bayern Munich wins the championship title for the third time in a row. The whole city of Munich is in championship fever and Eberhard is right in the middle of it. He now has expertise from the ground up.
Facilities Management needs a voice in public
Eberhard Sasse realises a deficit. The FM sector does not play a role in the perception of either the public or customers. Its services are practical, but arbitrary. Standards are lacking. He takes the initiative to give his industry a platform so that it can have a unified, strong and convincing voice in business life. The GEFMA, the German Facilities Management Association, was founded in Stuttgart, with Eberhard Sasse as its first chairman. Today, the association has more than 1,000 members and has helped FM achieve systemic relevance as “Die Möglichmacher” (“The Enablers”).
An era begins: Our first customer from the aviation sector
Sasse Group wins an airport as a facilities management customer for the first time. The complex tasks at one of Germany’s largest airports require the innovative implementation of experience from other areas. This demonstrates how important it is for the customer and service provider to think and act as partners. In the years that follow, this business area matures and more and more airports engage Sasse Group as an FM service provider, making aviation an important business area for the company today.
“Knowledgeable and innovative” on the one hand, “correct and consistent” on the other: This is how customers and employees should perceive us. Anyone who entrusts the Sasse Group with a service can be sure that we will reliably fulfil our service promise and use our expertise to good effect. As a family business, we create the basis for cohesion and mutual respect for everyone in our team and give individuals security and trust. The future security of our company and its jobs as well as the long-term partnership with our clients are at the centre of our actions.
